Zhangjiagang Wisdom Studies Declaration And International Wisdom Day

According to the People’s Daily, Hong Kong’s Wen Wei Po, Zhangjiagang Daily News, and other media reports, the Chinese Wisdom Project Research Society, together with the Zhangjiagang City Association of Social Sciences, and the Zhangjiagang City Association of Education, jointly organised the hosting (in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu province) of the fifth session of the Chinese Wisdom Studies Symposium and the third session of the Chinese Scientific Thinking Symposium held on the 29th of November 2013.  At this meeting, Dr Zhang Qingsong, of the USA– China Wisdom Research Society, announced the ‘Zhangjiagang Wisdom Studies Declaration’ and explained its meaning.

Conference representatives unanimously agreed with the ‘Zhangjiagang Wisdom Studies Declaration’, and expressed their support for the establishment of ‘International Wisdom Day’, which they hoped would develop the subject of Wisdom Studies to a global level. The Deputy Director of Zhangjiagang City’s Education Bureau and Vice President of the Academic Institute – Mr Chen Guo Hua – stated that after evaluating the conference, the declaration of the ‘Zhangjiagang Wisdom Studies Declaration’ was one of three major highlights (the other two bright spots were from the report of the President - Gu Ming Yuan – and his assessment of practical teaching and demonstration events).

The International Wisdom Society officially at this time formally announced the ‘Zhangjiagang Wisdom Studies Declaration’ with the hope that it will be an included subject in the annual symposiums involving wisdom study research, so that everyone may benefit from its theme.

This time marks the publication of a consensus that recognises the importance of the study (and development) of the theory wisdom research.  An important recognition that will see the subject of wisdom studies advance and gain a greater depth of understanding.

'Licchavi Vimalakirti came to the foot of that tree and said to me, ’Reverend Sariputra, this is not the way to absorb yourself in contemplation. You should absorb yourself in contemplation so that neither body nor mind appear anywhere in the triple world. You should absorb yourself in contemplation in such a way that you can manifest all ordinary behavior without forsaking cessation. You should absorb yourself in contemplation in such a way that you can manifest the nature of an ordinary person without abandoning your cultivated spiritual nature.'
